Desktop Pattern is a control panel device that lets you change the patterns on your Macintoshｨ desktop. It allows much larger patterns than are allowed in the General Controls control panel. It will only operate on Macintoshes equiped with Color Quickdraw such as the Macintosh SE/30, Macintosh Classic II, Macintosh LC, Macintosh II line and the Macintosh Quadra line.
This version of Desktop Pattern is a demo. Some of the features are, therefore, not fully functional. This demo version will not permanently save the desktop pattern that you select, but will use that pattern for the current session only. Rebooting the Macintosh will cause the desktop pattern to revert to the previous pattern. In addition, the randomizer function will only select from the first two patterns checked in the control panel. Any additional patterns checked will not be available for random selection at startup time. This version also does not let you add new patterns to the control panel. The full version will allow you to paste new patterns in and to cut old ones out. In order to keep the size of this demo down, not all of the patterns contained in the full version are included.
Because the General Controls control panel can not accomodate large patterns, it will not allow you to edit color patterns after you have used this product. To restore this capablility, use this product to set the desktop pattern to the Gray 50% pattern. Since this is a small (8x8) pattern, the General Controls control panel can edit it and will turn the color editing features back on.
